Ever since I was a little kid my mom bought us PJ’s that we got to open on Christmas Eve. Now that we are grown up my mom still buys us PJ’s but now it is her goal to find the most hideous ones she can; this she told me today, which is was funny because last year I loved mine!!
My parents are divorced and both re-married now so my Dad’s tradition is that he gives us a new ornament every year, he is a retired cop so for the last several years we has gotten us awesome cop themed ones.
Now that I am married we spent Christmas Eve with my in-laws and Christmas day with my family. It is a lot of fun because my husband comes from a small family, it is just him and his brother and his mom and dad. On the flip side I am the oldest of six!!!
This year I wanted to go to Albuquerque, that is where my dad lives and all the people on that side of the family. My grandma passed recently and I really wanted to spend the time with my family out there but unfortunately I have to work so I will be going in January.
Another tradition I have is the mafia party. In 2003 a group of my friends and I decided to dub ourselves “The Princess Mafia”, it started with five of us, basically an excuse to get together. Now that we have all gotten older we only get together for our annual Christmas party where we induct new members and do a secret Santa.
I love to bake cookies and give them to neighbors, and decorating the house and tree are so much fun. On Christmas Eve we sleep in the living room, drink eggnog and watch ‘The Polar Express”.
