Brandy Wine is a photographer specialized in Pinup sessions and weddings. Let’s take a look at her pictures and see what Brandy is all about:
Tell us a little bit about yourself? I am a self employed photographer and mom. Photography is my full-time job.

If I have a little free time, I love to travel. I also enjoy antiquing, sewing, & doing hair and make-up. I love meeting new people and doing for others….it fulfills me!
Can you tell us about the path you took to become a professional photographer? I have always had a camera in hand but became very serious about it in 2005. I told my friend that I wanted to start my own photography business and within a short time of reading numerous photography books, It took off. I have always admired the female form, all shapes and sizes. I knew when I started, I would eventually spend my time photographing women.
What advice do you have for amateurs wanting to become professional?
Learn and be influenced by others but be sure that you do your own thing!
Find YOUR passion and go for it.

What do you feel is the most challenging thing about photographing pinups?

The first photographer that comes to your mind and why?

George Hurrell! He is the master of Hollywood Glamour and he probably has the biggest influence on me. His lighting
was superb, just perfect. Made every woman glamorous.

In general, during a session, how many pics would you say you take to find “the right one”?

I’m very trigger-happy and all about variety. I love to do numerous poses and expressions to have a lot to choose from to find that perfect one.

Which one item of equipment would you say is the most important to you[?]

I love my “L” glass!

Are you a self taught photographer or did you have a mentor that showed you the ropes?

I am self-taught. 90% of my knowledge has come from photography books I have picked up at thrift stores. Though they were out of date, I learned more about hot lights and the old ways of glamour photography.
My grandfather was a huge inspiration to me as well. He documented my life
very well and made me realize how important photographs really are.
Who is your favorite pinup model you would like to work with?
My dream came true about two years ago when I first shot Vera Van Munster.
Not only is she a pin-up model but she lives the lifestyle. She knows her stuff
and I’ve watched her work for the past 5 years.

How do you decide on locations & subjects?

My favorite subjects are pin-ups. I absolutely love doing the hair and make-up and dolling the gals up. I shoot 4-5 pin-up sessions a week (though I want to slow it down a little this year!). I love the fact that the majority of my work is your mom-next-door, teachers, nurses and office managers wanting to feel good about themselves.
I have a home studio with numerous sets for each session which is where I shoot mostly.
I absolutely love shooting on location. There is so much to work with. I love all things old and abandoned and rustic.
