The very first album by this rockabilly band from Arizona USA is called Lonesome and Blue. The album is released in September 2011 and it’s a mix of rockabilly, honky tonk and country music.
The band members are Pat Roberts (lead vocals and guitar), Paul Thomas (upright bass) and Ed Michaels (drums). They’re influenced by great musicians like Roy Orbison, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.
On this album they’re musically accompanied by Paul Darrow on keys, John Rickard on pedal steel guitar and backing vocals by Amanda Lee.
You can find all kinds of music on this album. My favourite songs are the up tempo songs like Baby, Mighty big love, Sweet on me, Sugarsweet and the title song Lonesome and Blue (all these songs are written by Pat Roberts). The voice of Pat is warm and southern and especially in the song Train of love (written by Johnny Cash) it’s well reflected.
If you like country music then you must listen to the songs All my friends are gonna be strangers and Let’s talk about us. Also the ballad songs are not forgotten; one of the great ballads on this album is Love me, written by the famous duo Leiber and Stoller and of course very famous by Elvis.
This album is easy to listen to, great vocals by Pat. And The Heymakers, well, do know how to make good music. Certainly an album you must have!
